Leftover frosting

by Danielle
(Michigan)

How do I store the frosting once it is made up? I mixed up too much to use it all at once, so I put it in a bowl and covered it with tin foil. The frosting got hard.

How to store leftover frosting

Hi Danielle.

You MUST seal the frosting in an airtight ziplock bag or container if you want to reuse it. Covering with tin foil does not seal out the air.

Contact with air will cause it to harden, which is the end result you want when frosting dog treats.

If you have made more dog treat frosting than you can use, simply place it in a zip-locked bag and remove all the air before sealing. The frosting can then be either left out or placed in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it again.

You may have to add a little water to reconstitute (one drop at a time).
