icing cracking

by Selena G.
(Eugene)

I used yogurt for a cake icing for my dog. I put the cake in the freezer so that the icing would harden but then I took it out and it cracked and started to melt. Why did this happen?

Yogurt for cake icing
by: Dog Treat Icing Expert

Hi Selena. Store yogurt is not formulated to work as a cake icing. You can spread it over a cake but it will have to be kept in the refrigerator. It will not set like an icing.
