fondant icing

by Angie
(UK)

Hi,
Im a baker in the uk and I am branching out into making cakes for dogs. I want to be able to recreate some of what I would do on a cake for human consumption. I use a lot of fondant icing and would love to know what I could use instead. Many thanks
Angie

Sugar free fondant does not exist
by: Dog Treat Icing Expert

There is no fondant that is not basically all sugar. Some people claim to make fondant for dogs but it is all sugar and we have seen no proof that the product is approved for pets.

The closest thing if you want a smooth, shiny, hard-coating for a cake is to use Magifrost Dog Treat Icing. It is a tapioca product designed for dogs and will give you a smooth, shiny, candy coating style finish. It is not fondant and cannot be rolled and cut like fondant. It is a coating product.

Magifrost is available through K9Cakery.com.
